I had purchased this Mac Liquid lipstick some time ago but had completely forgot about it and stuffed it away in the bottom of one of my purses. I recently rediscovered it, and curious I decided to wear it, as I had honestly never even opened it. The colour is called “Cafe au lait” which means “coffee with milk” in French. This makes sense as the product and the colour of the lipstick itself is very much like a light brown. I had never really worn much brown lipstick, aside from the colour “1993” by Urban Decay which is my go to lipstick choice but appears more of a nude than as pure of a brown as this colour.
This is how the colour looks swatched on my skin tone:
Impression: At first I was kinda unsure about whether I liked this shade of brown on my fair complexion, but honestly after letting it settle in, and looking at it in pictures I decided that I did actually really like the way it looked. It’s so different than any other shade that I own, and so unique.
Wearability: The staying power of this lipstick is amazing, and I ate with it on, and was out for two hours without it smudging or fading. However, I did find the product a bit drying on my lips, but that does tend to happen to me with most liquid lipsticks.
Overall: I’m shocked by how much I like this shade of coffee brown as it’s a little out of my element! It’s a stunning colour, and very unique but subtle.
I purchased this set on sale a little while ago on Sephora’s website but I hadn’t gotten around to trying it out. I’m a big fan of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara so I thought I’d try out their Better Than False Lashes line of mascara. This pretty packaged set contains two products that are meant to be used together : a mascara and primer and a little white bottle of synthetic lash extension fibers that are meant to give the “false lash” look.
According to the instructions on the back of the box, the gold prime and seal mascara gets applied first, acting as a base- and then the little white bottle of synthetic fibers gets used second- attaching the tiny white hair like strings to your eyelashes. Lastly, you use the first product again – the mascara- to “seal” the fibers to your lashes.
I’ll give you a look at my lashes without mascara so you can see the difference the product made. It’s a little hard to see my own lashes as they are very fine and dark blonde so without mascara they appear very sparse.
P.S. I’m not naked in these pictures 😝 I was wearing an off the shoulder top-I promise. Also this is me sans any makeup, whereas the after pictures include foundation and highlighter.
– My lower lashes look longer than my upper lashes…
VERDICT: I’m pleasantly surprised! I didn’t think I’d find much of a difference compared to the use of normal mascara but I feel like this product gave me much more lash length than the Better Than Sex mascara does! My lashes didn’t feel any fuller but definitely much longer. I was also surprised at how easy it was to use and how mess free it was! Other products with lash extension fibers that I’ve tried in the past left tiny hairlike threads all over my cheeks and didn’t quite stay on my lashes. However, I found no problems applying this mascara and it stayed on very well! Although the fibers initially did not irritate my eyes or contacts I did find as the day wore on my eyes felt a little drier than normal. Other than that however, the product does do a good job of what it’s intended for which is making lashes appear longer than regular mascara.
It’s that time of year again! 💕The Victoria’s Secret (and Victoria’s Secret Pink) semi-annual sale is upon us! I am a regular attendee at these sales each year because it’s a good place to stock on bras, undies, workout wear, and sometimes sale clothing! Last year I made two trips to the sale and bought a ton of things! This year however, I decided to shop a little lighter as A) the store was a complete mess and it was nearly impossible to find things in my size and B) I didn’t really need that much this year and I’ve been trying to avoid the whole “buying things just because they’re cheap” mind set.
I did find a couple cute things for the summer time however, so I thought I’d mention them!
1. Pineapple 🍍 Body suit.
I spotted this cute little bodysuit in the clearance section of Victoria’s Secret Pink the moment I walked in the store and luckily as It was the last one of its kind there, it was in my size! It was originally $34.95 Canadian dollars but was on sale for $15.99 which was a great price and it fit me well when I tried it on. I also love tropical/food themed clothing pieces for summer.
This adorable white lace brallete was marked down to a mere $14.99 down from $37.50. As someone with a bralette obsession I needed to own this bralette! I wear bralettes often as they are super comfy (unlike their cousin the Bra) and I can never have too many.
I don’t own much in the way of perfume or scented body spray so I took advantage of the fact that this body mist was $5 down from the original $18.00 price to add some summery scent into my life. This fragrance mist is the perfect mix of fruity and coconut and is perfect for the summer. It is also very subtle smelling as I find that strong perfumes give me a headache.
