Song of the week 01

Another weekly trend I’ve decided to pick up is “song of the week” where every week Ill pick a different song from my repertoire of favourite songs (there’s a lot) to share with you. Some will be new songs, others older. I’ll include my favourite lyrics from the song and why I love this song.

For this week, song 01 is:

Yellow – by Coldplay (2000)

Ok, this song is an “oldie but a goody” and the reason why this is the song I’m defining this week by is because I’ve been feeling a bit romantic lately. I think it has something to do with Spring and wedding season, because I heard the song Yellow being played at a wedding I attended last week and it reminded me how much I love it. And honestly, I would even argue that this is one of the most romantic songs ever written. If someone played me this song on the guitar I’d instantly fall in love with them. It’s a fact.

My favourite lyrics from this song include :

“Look at the stars.

look how they shine for you.

And everything you do.

Yeah they were all yellow”

“I came along

I wrote a song for you

And all the things you do

And it was called yellow”

And this:

“For you Id bleed myself dry”

Something about that line hits me somewhere deep inside. Loving someone so much that you would bleed yourself dry for them.

My interpretation of this song is that it’s either a dedication to a loved one, a song about unconditional love. I have heard some sadder explanations of the songs meaning such as it being about an individual who is sick (hence, yellow) and although that may be the case I like to think of this song as being about love and how powerful it can be.
